New Planning Applications for Firbeck Hall

RB2020/1819 and RB2020/1824

Firbeck Parish Council wishes to ensure that all householders are aware of new planning applications submitted in respect of the Firbeck Hall site.  You may remember that the site already has planning permission for 33 dwellings within the hall itself, the stable block, the walled garden and the grounds.  The 33 dwellings represent a roughly 20% increase on today’s number of households in the village.

In the new applications, which are for an over 55s development, the overall volume of new build is stated to be slightly lower than in the previously approved application. The number of dwellings is increased by 29 to a total of 62, more than half of which in a new apartment block, also includes in the volume, a pool building and a restaurant for Firbeck Hall residents and their guests. The 62 proposed new dwellings would represent a roughly 40% increase on today’s number of households in the village.

The new applications are for:

22 apartments in the hall instead of 21 previously approved.

7 apartments in the stables instead of 3 previously approved.

1 large house in the walled garden, the same as previously approved.

32 apartments in a new block instead of 8 large houses previously approved.

You can read the applications on the RMBC planning portal and comment there if you wish.  The current deadline for comments on the portal is 11th December 2020 and we do not know yet whether this will be extended.

The parish council has yet to form a view on the applications and would like to hear from residents.  Please contact us as well as, not instead of, making comments on the RMBC planning portal.

If you prefer to give us your views in writing then please feel free to do so and post or deliver your letter to either:
