Restrictions relaxed for 'shielded' group:

With changes to lockdown measures happening quickly, I want to provide you with an update of what is happening locally.
Many of you are doing important work with local residents and local businesses to help them prepare for any changes safely.
Restrictions relaxed for 'shielded' group: The government updated its guidance over the weekend for people who are shielding, relaxing the advice not to leave their property.
The new advisory guidance came into force this week which means that whilst people who are shielding are still classed as vulnerable and should continue to take precautions, they can now leave their home if they wish, as long as they are able to maintain strict social distancing. The advice is:
- If they choose to spend time outdoors, it should be with members of their own household.
- If they live alone, they can spend time outdoors with one person from another household - ideally, the same person each time.
- If you do go out, they should take extra care to minimise contact with others by keeping 2 metres apart.
For any of you who are in the ‘shielded’ group, the Council’s advice about your working arrangements has not changed.
Our residents on the shielded list have been supported by the Rotherham Heroes volunteer scheme since the lockdown began in March. This support will continue for as long as it is required.
