Swallownest Bowling Club

Would you like to try a new hobby, meet new friends and keep fit?

Swallownest bowling club was established 2012. Since opening the club has gone from strength to strength and has over 80 active members.

Over the years the club has successfully secured funding from the local Parish Council, Rotherham Borough Council and the Banks Community fund which has enabled them to install an Irrigation system and make improvements to the ground.

Where possible the dedicated members have carried out the work themselves providing disabled access, new seating, and colourful planters which make this a very special place for all to enjoy.

The club welcomes and encourages people of all ages and abilities to come along and try something new.

Last year the Bowling club offered FREE coaching and children from Year 5 Springwood Junior Academy, Aston took up the challenge of learning a new sport in a clean, safe environment, whilst at the same time providing an opportunity to exercise and improve fitness and well- being.  Fun was had by all. Some of the comments from the children include:

“I have enjoyed bowling because I like all the challenges.  I have learnt that the dint in the ball is for the ball to curve.”

“I have enjoyed learning how to roll the Jack.  I also enjoyed meeting different people and been taught a relaxing sport “

“I have enjoyed bowling because it was very calm and fun”

The Club are already looking forward to this year’s season which will run from  March to October. New members are always welcome, you can play socially or join a league.  For more information please contact Ian Oxley on 0114 2877594
