Keeping a finger on the pulse

Community drop ins and street surgeries

Ward Councillors Deborah Fenwick-Green and Wendy Cooksey attended a second early birds session at Eastwood Village Primary on 6th February. The area’s PCSOs, Ryan and Steph, also attended to pick up and advise on police issues, while RMBC's Selective Licensing attended to cover queries and issues relating to the private rental sector.

We were assisted by interpreters, kindly provided by the school and Rotherham Ethnic Minority Alliance (REMA), to enable detailed discussions to take place with Czech/Slovak speaking residents and to get over messages regarding, for example, the new pink bins roll out.

These sessions, timed around school starting times, have proved useful in helping us engage with the local community and we hope to hold a similar one at St Ann’s school in March or April.

The 4th March will also see us back at Clifton Learning Partnership’s Zone 1 building on Erskine Road for an early evening community drop in. Here we will feed back on issues raised at November’s event, including updating residents on recent action and works undertaken at Eldon Road playing fields and the pocket park (at the junctions of Selborne St/Hatherley Rd and Lindley St).
