Pupils Design New Sunnyside Park sign

Wickersley Ward councillors work with Flanderwell Primary School to create a new Sunnyside Park sign

Wickersley Ward Councillors, Cllr Ellis, Cllr Hoddinott and Cllr Read have worked together with Dalton Parish Council, Sunnyside Community Centre and Flanderwell Primary School to create a new sign for the Sunnyside Children's Play Area.

The Sunnyside Children's Play area, situated at the side of Sunnyside Community Centre, isn't easily seen from Flanderwell Lane as it's set back from the road.

There was a large sign promoting the community park but it was weathered and in need of some colour. Wickersley Councillors, working with Dalton Parish Council and Sunnyside Community Centre, approached Flanderwell Primary School to see if pupils could help design a colourful sign promoting the local park.

Flanderwell Primary School pupils were keen to help and produced some amazing artwork.

Wickersley Councillors, Dalton Parish Council and representatives from the Sunnyside Community Centre all came together to make the very difficult decision of choosing a winning design. The artwork produced by the pupils was of a high standard, therefore the group agreed on four winning designs. Six pupils were involved in creating the four designs.

In December 2018, the new sign was installed with funding from the Wickersley Ward budget.

Wickersley Councillors, Dalton Parish Council and representatives from the Sunnyside Community Centre thanked pupils from Flanderwell Primary School for their fabulous artwork.
