How to Request a Right of Access
You can request your records by completing a Right of Access form on the Rotherham Council website.
Your Personal Advisor (PA) can help you make this request or do it for you.
If you prefer, you can also request them directly by phone, text, or email, you do not have to go through your PA.
What happens after
It might take a little while for your records to arrive, and they could come in several envelopes depending on how much there is.
Some parts might be blacked out (redacted) because they include information about other people. This is to protect their privacy under data protection law.
We will give you everything we can and help you understand what happened in your life and why. If you have questions, we will do our best to answer them
We know this can be emotional. You will not be left on your own, your PA, an advocate, or another trusted person can sit with you to go through your records, explain what things mean, and talk through any feelings that come up.
