Support When You’re Getting Ready to Leave Custody
Planning for Release
About 3 months before you leave custody, we will arrange a resettlement meeting. You, the prison team, Probation or YOS, housing services and your Personal Adviser (PA) will all be involved.
This meeting focuses on what you will need to be safe, supported and prepared for release.
What We Will Help With
- finding and arranging accommodation for when you leave
- getting your Universal Credit ready so you can claim it as soon as possible
- making sure you have ID, important documents and a bank account
- linking you with health services for after your release
- helping you prepare for college, training or work
- thinking about the positive people and support in your life, and helping you reconnect with them if you have not been in contact while in custody
Practical Support
You may be able to receive a resettlement grant or essential items to help you when you leave.
We will also help you arrange travel and support you to book any important appointments you need to attend.
