Volunteering
Volunteering is a practical way to gain experience, build confidence, and meet people while giving back to your community. It helps you develop skills employers value, such as communication, teamwork and reliability, and it looks strong on a CV. Volunteering also lets you try different kinds of work before you commit to a career path.
Volunteering can be anything from helping at a foodbank to coaching sports or supporting environmental projects. Many roles are flexible and welcoming to people with different levels of experience. You’ll meet supportive people, learn new skills, and make a positive difference locally.
Examples of volunteering roles
- Supporting a foodbank or community kitchen.
- Helping at animal rescue centres or shelters.
- Sports coaching or assisting at youth clubs.
- Environmental projects such as gardening, conservation or recycling schemes.
