Contacting a landlord
When you find a property you like, you can phone the landlord or send an email. You can use this template:
Subject: Property enquiry – [Property address]
Dear [Landlord’s name]
I am writing to ask about the availability of the property at [Property address]. If it is still available, I would be grateful for more information about:
- whether you accept tenants who receive benefits
- viewing arrangements
- required deposits or upfront payments
- who is responsible for utility bills
- the application process and how long it usually takes

Before you view a property
Speak to your PA before arranging a viewing. They can:
- give you tips on what to look for
- explain the renting process
- tell you what documents you may need to provide

If you secure a property
Your PA will:
- check you have all the documents you need
- support you with moving in
