The Sheffield City Region (SCR) local authorities (Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield) has worked collectively to develop three projects within two programmes under Investment Priority 1.2 and 1.4 of the European Social Fund (ESF) programme.
The aim of the two programmes is to support the delivery of education and employment outcomes for individuals and families already accessing Children and Young People Services and Adult Care Services and to provide outreach services through the voluntary and community sector to support individuals from marginalised groups.
The two programmes are:
Pathways to Progression
Priority 1.2: (Young People)
Supporting 15 to 19 year-olds not in education employment or training (NEET) to engage in learning or employment.
Priority 1.4: (Adults)
A needs-led programme for adults with significant and complex barriers to employment, with a particular, but not exclusive emphasis on those with (physical or mental) health problems. The programme will focus on those claiming out of work benefits/universal credit and economically inactive individuals.
Pathways to Success
Priority 1.4: (Community)
A needs-led community-based programme which focuses on supporting adults with health issues from marginalised communities, not mandated for the Work Programme or inactive in the labour market to develop basic skills and move towards or into employment.
The combined value of delivery for both programmes for the City Region is; £2,643,303. This comprises £1,460,777 ESF grant (55% of the total programme value) and matched funding of £1,182,254 (45%) identified from current delivery across the Council contributing to these priorities.
Sheffield City Council, are the lead Accountable Body for both ESF and will contract with each individual authority regarding outputs and targets/outcomes ending on 31st December 2022.
