Proposed alteration to the age range at Sitwell Infant School consultation

Proposed alteration details

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is the admission authority for all community and voluntary controlled schools within Rotherham and is responsible for setting admission arrangements for these types of school.

In accordance with Section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 and Section 28(1) of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, notice is hereby given that Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council intends to implement a prescribed alteration to the school. This change will adjust the age range from 4-7 years to 3-7 years, with effect from 1st September 2025.

Why this alteration is being proposed

Children who are in Foundation Stage 2/Reception at the school have previously attended different schools or settings for Foundation Stage 1. By opening a Foundation Stage 1 class, these children will be able to get both Foundation Stage 1 and 2 at the same school (if they meet the admissions criteria for FS2/Reception). This will also create more space at other schools, allowing more children to take up their entitlement and making more early education and childcare places available to meet the growing demand when the new entitlement starts in September 2025.
