Schools are responsible for handling their own complaints. If you have a concern about a school, you should contact the school directly in the first instance.
All state and independent schools in England must have a complaints procedure. You should follow the school’s full complaints process to try to resolve the issue with them.
Before you escalate your complaint
You must complete every stage of the school’s complaints procedure before you can take the issue to another organisation.
If you have followed the school’s procedure in full and are still not satisfied, you may be able to escalate your complaint.
Taking your complaint further
More information about who to contact next is available on the GOV.UK website.
