Completion notices for new build properties
The Council issues completion notices for properties.
A completion notice:
- Tells you the date the Council believes your property is complete
- Sets the date from which you must start paying Council tax
The property might still need more work before you can live in it, for example, installing a bathroom or kitchen, however, a property is considered complete when the basic structure is finished, where:
- Exterior and interior walls are built
- Floors are laid
- Basic services are laid to the site
We can serve a completion notices up to three months in advance if we expect you to complete the remaining work in that time.
