Having problems paying your Council Tax

What happens if you don't pay your Council Tax

If you don't pay your Council Tax on time we will send you a reminder notice.

If you do not bring the instalments up to date within seven days you will lose your right to pay by instalments. After another seven days, without further notice, we may ask you to pay the full amount you owe for the year.

We will only send at most two reminder notices in any financial year. If the payment is not brought up to date or we do not hear from you, we will send a summons. We can add a charge for this of £54 to what you already owe.

If you get a reminder or summons but can't pay what is due, contact us immediately to discuss payment.

All documents are now bar coded. You can use the bar coded document to pay at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet. You can also pay online.
