How to use the Rotherham Map
1. Use Quick Search (the main way to find things)
Quick Search lets you look up locations such as:
- Addresses
- Streets
- Postcodes
- Council assets (depending on permissions)
How to use it:

Type what you’re looking for into the search box.

Choose the correct result from the list.

The map will zoom to that location and highlight it.
2. Measure distances or areas
Use the Measure tool if you need to check:
- How long a road section is
- The size of a plot or area
How to use it:
- Select Measure from the top toolbar.
- Choose Distance or Area.
- Click on the map to draw your line or shape.
- Double‑click to finish and see the measurement.
3. Get coordinates
The Coordinates tool shows the exact map coordinates of a point.
How to use it:
- Select Coordinates.
- Click anywhere on the map.
- A small pop‑up will show the coordinate values.
4. Add bookmarks (save places you use often)
Bookmarks let you return to a location quickly.
How to use it:
- Zoom to the place you want to save.
- Select Bookmarks.
- Click Add and give it a name.
- Next time, open Bookmarks and click the saved location.
5. Draw on the map (for quick annotations)
The Drawing tool lets you add temporary notes, shapes, or markers.
How to use it:
- Select Drawing.
- Choose a shape (point, line, polygon, text).
- Click on the map to place it.
- Use the delete tool to remove drawings when finished.
6. Use Query (view information about map features)
The Query tool lets you click on features to see details — for example, road names, boundaries, or asset information.
How to use it:
- Select Query.
- Click on a feature on the map.
- A panel will open showing available information.
7. Publish or export (if enabled for your account)
Some users can export maps or create simple reports.
How to use it:
- Select Publish.
- Choose the format available to you.
- Follow the on‑screen steps.
8. Reset the map
If things get messy:
- Use the Home or Reset button (if visible)
- Or refresh the page to return to the default view
