Arrangements for returning to education from 1st June 2020

Most Rotherham schools have remained open through the Coronavirus restrictions to provide school places for vulnerable children and the children of key workers. The Government has confirmed that this should continue and that it is also asking schools to begin to open up further places from Monday 1st June, starting with nursery, reception, year 1 and year 6.

The Council is supporting local schools and early years settings to do this.

Help with Council Tax

Depending on your household's individual circumstances, you may be elegible for one or both of these sources of support.

  1. Council Tax Support (hardship fund): if you are a working age recipient of Local Council Tax Support payments you will receive additional Council Tax support of £200 which will be deducted from your current year (2020/21) Council Tax bill. This includes people who are newly eligible for Local Council Tax support.
  2. Council Tax deferral: This is available if you are struggling to pay their Council Tax for the current year (2020/21) because your income (and/or that of your partner) has reduced by 20% or more as a result of Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis. It will allow you to temporarily defer and reschedule payments of your Council Tax by up to three months.
