It is recognised that the reduction of carbon emissions is not something the Council can achieve alone and it is therefore necessary to create open and collaborative dialogue with others who share these goals. As such the Council is committed to taking a proactive approach around public engagement, communication and lobbying.
When identifying the actions needed, the Council will focus on what can be delivered immediately as well as aspiration for future years. It is recognised that some of the proposed actions will require further investment and support from national government.
However many of the proposed actions will, over time, result in savings for the Council through introducing more efficient energy supply and usage. In addition many of the actions will contribute to the well-being of Rotherham residents by reducing energy costs, providing better designed homes and communities and improving health.
