The Main Stage, part of the Welcome Back Area, will showcase a diverse programme of music and performance including West African rhythms, modern British folk, jazz, funk, rock, brass, dhol drummers and bhangra dancers.

Well-known South Yorkshire based singer-songwriter and poet Ray Hearne will be taking to the main stage with a whistle-stop performance of songs and poetry. Ray will also be in Clifton Park Museum and in the Museum Hub in the Children & Families Area over the weekend, on Friday and Sunday, singing sea-shanties!

Festival favourites, Songo, play West African rhythms on djembes and dun duns to celebrate the region’s rich music heritage with song and dance. Musicians from across the world come together united by their love of West African culture. Featuring Iya Sako, a djembefola (master drummer) from Guinea and Fatou Sallah – an accomplished dancer from Gambia.  Fatou will dance to Iya’s djembe in an explosive celebration of West African musical culture.

Mim Suleiman is a boundary crossing performer. She reaches deep into her East African heritage to blend traditional Taarab vibes with dub, jazz, soul and funk. Her versatile and charismatic presence have led to collaborations with some of the biggest names in Africa and the diaspora. Her Music echoes the rich influence of Swahili coastal traditions and beyond, mixing the styles with unusual instrument combinations delivering her heartfelt lyrics with her startling vocal range.

One-Drum is led by its founder and master drummer Abass Dodoo who worked with legendary Cream drummer, Ginger Baker, for many years touring renowned jazz venues and festivals around the globe. Abass Dodoo and his One-Drum team will bring an unforgettable experience to Rotherham Show’s Main Stage – bringing Africa to your doorstep. One-Drum will also be providing two unforgettable interactive authentic African drumming workshops on Sunday – for all ages.
