Inclusion and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
The Early Years and Childcare Service supports all early years providers to include all children and families into their provision; ensuring they provide an inclusive environment where everyone feels included, involved and valued.
This includes children who have identified Special Educational Needs and/or Disability, children where English is an additional language, children who are supported by the Local Authority Looked After Children’s Team and any vulnerable child.
Support is provided by:
Facilitating multi agency working between relevant external agencies and early years providers
Delivering bespoke training packages to group and individual providers
Coordinating training specific to individual children (including medical and manual handling)
Offering a brokerage service to parents looking for childcare
Arranging support visits to early years settings when needed
Helping settings to enable them to provide the most appropriate care and support for a child who may be going through a time in their life where they are moving into a more vulnerable situation. The support provided will be bespoke to each individual case.
