Known and emerging issues

Below are the known and emerging issues from:

  • An analysis of the data in Chapter 2
  • The meetings and events Ward Councillors have been involved in during the last 12 months

Ward wide issues

  • Important to acknowledge diversity in ward through any engagement
  • Deprivation, in particular in the inner eastern areas of the ward i.e. Ferham and Holmes, Masbrough / Thornhill and Henley
  • Above average Crime and ASB, again in the inner eastern areas of the ward

Local issues

Ferham/Holmes

  • Crime/ASB including an emerging drug issue, the appearance of the environment and on street/property based noise nuisance (from the recent door to door survey)

Masbrough/Thornhill

  • Tackling deprivation
  • Increasing partner visibility
  • Encouraging positive lifestyle choices through Ferham Childrens Centre and Liberty Church
  • Looking at running pre-entry ESOL courses
  • Building community cohesion by promoting a (RUCST) “building bridges” initiative

Henley

  • Crime and ASB including drug dealing, behaviour issues, public nuisance and off road bikes

Blackburn

  • Grange Landfill

Richmond Park

  • Better play facilities and spaces for young people

Meadowbank

  • Off-road biking, pockets of litter and problems caused by a small number of households

Kimberworth

  • Speeding including Kimberworth Road, Bradgate Road and Richmond Park Avenue
