The Council works with other local agencies to protect vulnerable adults. The process of working with people to stop and prevent abuse and make them safer is called safeguarding.
This is a complex area of work. The safeguarding agencies need an strategy so that they can coordinate their resources and planning.
The strategy is based on a set of principles and objectives that everyone believes in and works to. It also forms the blueprint for developing more detailed work plans.
The strategy tells the public what you can expect from the agencies. It also gives a way to measure how well we are doing to make people safer.
