If you want to apply for a new Council home, you must be on the housing register and have been a Council tenant for at least two years.

You must also have:

  • A tidy garden
  • No neighbour or anti-social behaviour complaints in the last 12 months
  • No damage to your property
  • No unauthorised alterations to your home without the Council's permission
  • Not been asked to sign an acceptable behaviour contract
  • No outstanding debts with the Council or any local housing association
  • No criminal record in the last 12 months for anti-social behaviour or illegal drugs offences
  • In the opinion of the Council, been a good member of the community for the last 12 months if you have previously been in prison
