Additional General Waste Bins
Who is entitled to an additional general waste bin?
You can apply for an additional bin if your household meets one or both of the criteria below:
- You have five or more permanent residents (including children) living at your address
- A permanent resident has a medical condition which means additional non-recyclable waste is produced which won't fit into your usual bin
If you already have an additional general waste bin
All households that we have a record of having an additional general waste bin will be contacted by letter between February and April to complete a new application online. This is so we can keep our records up-to-date and to ensure only those households that are eligible for an additional bin have one.
Once you have received your letter you need to re-apply so we can continue to empty it. The council reserves the right to undertake some basic checks to ensure that additional bins are only collected from properties that are entitled to them. If your application is accepted you will be sent a sticker to put on your additional bin so the bin crew know you are eligible to have an additional bin.
When you have received your new bin with a pink lid you should continue to use your additional black bin for general household waste until your sticker arrives.
If you don't re-apply or your application is not accepted you will not receive a sticker and your additional bin will not be emptied and may be removed.
How do I apply?
If you don't already have an additional bin, you should call 01709 336003 and an application form will be sent out for you to complete.
If you already have an additional bin, please wait until you receive your letter and then complete the online application form.
