Check your collection date

Your pink-lid bin is for general household waste, such as:

  • general waste
  • food waste
  • plastic bags and film
  • nappies and wipes
  • vacuum cleaner waste
  • pet bedding
  • paper cups and plates

Items that can’t go in your pink-lid bin include:

  • hot ashes
  • electrical items, batteries, energy-saving lightbulbs or fluorescent tubes*
  • paint tins*

*These items can be taken to a household waste recycling centre.

For more information about what items can or can’t be recycled at home or at a recycling centre, see our A-Z of waste:

To save space in your pink-lid bin, you should use your black bin and green bin for items that can be recycled.

If all your household waste will not fit in your pink-lid bin, you can take the excess waste to a Household Waste Recycling Centre.
