Emergency help if you are homeless or a rough sleeper
If you are homeless or know someone who is, please contact us as soon as possible. Contact the Homelessness Team 24 hours a day, seven days a week on 01709 336009.
If you are calling about someone you are concerned for, you will need to be with them when you call.
Free calls can be made in Rotherham town centre using the BT InLink devices, located on Corporation Street, College Street and Howard Street.
Use the ‘Free calls’ option on the tablet or use the keypad to dial the emergency number.
You can also access the Rotherham Council website via the InLink to find out information on other council services.
Support for rough sleepers in cold weather
Rough Sleepers in Rotherham will be invited into South Yorkshire Fire Station to escape sub-zero temperatures.
People who are sleeping rough can access this service through a referral from the Homelessness Team 24/7 by ringing 01709 336009 between 8.30 and 5pm and 07748143170 outside of these hours. Arrangements will then be made for transport to the Winter Shelter.
The Winter Shelter will open its doors from 9pm on sub-zero nights until 7am the next day thanks to a partnership between South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Rotherham Council, Independent Contractor Security Ltd (ICS) and Framework.
