A Rotherham Council-run care home has been rated as good following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission.
Davies Court, in Dinnington provides long-term respite and immediate care for older people, including some with dementia.
CQC inspectors visited in September and found the care home has a strong culture of learning, person-centred care, and effective collaboration with healthcare partners.
Inspectors noted that staff were kind, respectful and responsive to residents’ needs and support them to maintain their independence.
Rotherham Council has invested in the care home in recent years which included the external garden areas and additional workforce capacity.
Key highlights from the report include:
- Safe Care: Robust systems for safeguarding, risk management, and infection control were in place.
- Effective Support: Residents received care based on best practice, with regular reviews and strong links to local health professionals.
- Caring Environment: Staff treated residents with dignity and compassion, supporting independence and personal choice.
- Responsive Services: Care was tailored to individual needs, with residents and families involved in planning and feedback.
- Well-led Leadership: The home demonstrated a clear vision, inclusive leadership, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Action plans are being developed for medicines optimisation and governance, management and sustainability – two areas the CQC felt improvements could be made in, but did reference that actions had already been taken.
Cllr Joanna Baker-Rogers, Cabinet member for Adult Care and Health at Rotherham Council said: “This is fantastic news for residents and staff at Davies Court.
“The report is a clear reflection of the hard work of the dedicated teams at Davies Court and in the Council’s Adult Social Care service.
“As a Council we are committed to enabling residents to live as well and as independently as possible for as long as possible – and it’s pleasing to see that the CQC has recognised this during their visit.
“I was particularly pleased to read that inspectors described staff as kind and caring and found they treated people as individuals and with dignity and respect – which is reassuring for residents and their families.”
