This is Fostering – Celebrating Rotherham’s Foster Carers this Foster Care Fortnight

Happy family

Rotherham Council is celebrating the amazing support and care that the borough’s Foster Carers give to local children during Foster Care Fortnight.

Foster Care Fortnight is the annual celebration of Foster Carers nationwide set up by The Fostering Network and takes place from Monday 11 to Sunday 24 May.

Throughout the fortnight, foster carers have been invited to a series of events to say thank you for their vital support for local children and young people.

It’s also the ideal time for those thinking about becoming a Foster Carer to get in touch, whether you’re looking to offer full time support or want to learn more about Fostering Rotherham’s Home from Home offer.

This year’s theme is ‘This is Fostering’ which highlights building relationships, getting involved in the community, and making a lasting difference for children and young people.

Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young Peoples Services, Cllr Victoria Cusworth, said: “Our Foster Carers are unsung heroes within our communities, providing essential support for children and young people across Rotherham. Foster Care Fortnight is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our wonderful foster carers and give our gratitude for everything they do. Throughout the fortnight, colleagues from Children and Young People’s Services have planned a variety of events, and I hope our carers and their foster children will feel how truly appreciated they are.

“For residents who are thinking of a career as a foster carer, I would encourage you to follow Fostering Rotherham’s social media channels and get in touch with our dedicated and friendly team.”

Could you make a difference to a local child’s life? Become a foster carer with Fostering Rotherham.
