Students across Rotherham are celebrating today, Thursday 13 August, as provisional results show A Level pass rates have risen in Rotherham compared with last year.
This year, students have received results for 2,573 A Levels across Rotherham, and a total of 3,874 results for A Level or A Level equivalent qualifications.
Provisional data shows all Rotherham students achieved higher A Level grades this year, with 74.9% achieving A* to C grades in A Levels and equivalent qualifications, an increase of 1.8% compared with last year.
Local A Level students have achieved a pass rate of 98.1% for grades A* to E, an increase of 0.5% compared to last year.
Rotherham's overall pass rate for students achieving grades A* to E in A Level and or A Level equivalent qualifications stands at 98.5%, an increase of 0.3% on last year.
The proportion of students achieving the highest grades of A* to A also rose slightly to 19.3%, up 0.2% on 2025.
Councillor Victoria Cusworth, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Rotherham Council, said: "I would like to congratulate all the young people receiving their results today. These fantastic results represent years of hard work, commitment and determination, and students across Rotherham should be proud of what they have achieved.
"Whether students are moving on to university, apprenticeships, training or employment, these results mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter. I wish them every success as they take their next steps and continue working towards their aspirations.
"If your results were not quite what you expected, don't be discouraged. There are still plenty of opportunities available, and advice and guidance can help you find the right next step for you."
While detailed national breakdowns have not yet been published, the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) has reported that the overall national pass rate in England for grades A* to E is 97.5%.
Nationally (England) the JCQ has reported 78.1% of students achieved grades A* to C, compared with 77.7% last year.
Young people who are still considering their future options can access support, advice and guidance through the National Careers Service.
Those considering alternatives to university can explore apprenticeship opportunities, which offer a chance to gain valuable skills and experience while earning, with opportunities available through Rotherham Council and other local employers.
