Vote for Clifton Park in the UK’s People Choice Awards 2017Published Friday, 1st September 2017
Clifton Park was awarded a top position in last year’s newly-launched Keep Britain Tidy People’s Choice award - and you can now vote for it to become the number one park in the UK!
This year, an army of experts awarded a record breaking 1,797 Green Flag Awards to the UK’s very best parks and green spaces, with Clifton Park receiving one for the seventh year.
Now the public is being given the opportunity to vote for their favourite parks in the People’s Choice awards. Only parks that have recently won a Green Flag award qualify for the People’s Choice nomination. Launched last year, Clifton Park was one of just ten in the whole of the UK to receive an award.
Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Working and Cultural Services Cllr Taiba Yasseen said: “Being a People’s Choice winner has given Rotherham something amazing to be proud of. Lots of people voted for Clifton Park which shows we are giving visitors what they want and that the hard work of staff is valued. It demonstrates how much visitors appreciate the park and it will help us to secure future investment.”
Clifton Park is hugely popular with people of all ages, with a wide variety of attractions including beautiful gardens, tennis courts, events, traditional amusement park, crazy golf and even a land train to take visitors to the Museum and back.
Paul Todd, International Green Flag Award manager said, “Following the huge success of #LoveParks Week, the People’s Choice Award is another chance to show how much your favourite park means to you. Make your voice heard and vote now.”
Last year saw tens of thousands of people voting for their favourite park, with winners coming from all across the UK, from London to Lanarkshire.
Voting opens on Friday 1 September and closes on Saturday 30 September, with the top 10 winning sites being announced on Wednesday 11 October, 2017.
You can find your nearest award-winning parks and to vote for your favourite, simply find it on the map and click the vote button. Once you’ve voted, why not encourage others to get involved too.
