Road improvements for BrinsworthPublished Wednesday, 28th March 2018
Brinsworth residents will see improvements taking place to one of their main shopping routes next week.
The Council is investing £10 million in improving roads across the borough, as part of its 2020 Roads Programme. This includes targeted work to resurface many of Rotherham’s estate roads as well as a wider package of road maintenance.
Rotherham Council will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing work to Brinsworth Lane, near to a number of local shops, starting on Tuesday 3 April.
The resurfacing works will complement other footway improvements that have been taking place in the immediate area, and these will resume once the carriageway resurfacing is completed.
Motorists and shoppers are being warned to expect some disruption, as part of the road will need to be closed while the work is carried out. To minimise disruption, the resurfacing will be carried out in two phases, and it is anticipated that some access will be available outside of normal working day hours.
Colin Knight, Rotherham Council’s Head of Service, Highways, said: “We apologise for any disruption experienced by local residents and businesses, however this work is essential to improve the footways and roads in the area, and we hope people will appreciate the benefits once all the work is completed.
“We hope that by arranging for the much needed road resurfacing works to take place during the school holiday period, we can minimise disruption to local people as much as possible.
“We aim to keep residents and businesses informed and if anyone has any questions, staff on site will be happy to talk through any concerns,” he added.
The resurfacing works will only affect Brinsworth Lane between the Bonet Lane mini roundabout and Poplar Drive (including the junction), and part of Poplar Drive, which will also be closed to traffic.
