Work to start on merger of Maltby Library and Customer Service CentrePublished Wednesday, 2nd May 2018
Maltby residents will see work begin to merge the Library and Customer Services Facilities later this month.
Following a recent public consultation on a proposed merger, work is now set to start to relocate Maltby Library into the Joint Service Centre.
To enable work to take place, Maltby Customer Service centre will close from Tuesday 8th May until the end of July 2018 whilst works are carried out to transform the existing Customer Service area to a new merged Library and Customer Service Centre.
The Customer Services facility will move temporarily into Maltby Library, 2 High Street, Maltby, S66 8LA, however the self-service payment kiosks in the joint service centre will remain operational throughout the work.
The newly merged facility will re-open on Wednesday 1st August. The merger will create a one stop shop including:
• Library services featuring self-service technology, computers and reference facilities, activities and events and a children’s area, as well as a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books (including large print and spoken word).
• Customer Services, including Council Tax and Housing Benefit appointments, Streetpride, Council housing services, Rothercard, blue badges, concessionary travel passes, self-service payment machines and taxi licensing drop-off services.
• Assisted digital services including Housing Benefit and Council Tax via “Your Account”
“We would like to thank customers in advance for their patience while these works are taking place,” said Zoe Oxley, Rotherham Council's Service Manager for Libraries and Neighbourhood Hubs.
“The move is aimed at making services more efficient, enabling customers to conveniently access a number of services under one roof, and will bring it into line with similar centres at Aston, Dinnington, Rawmarsh and Swinton.”
