Get involved at Rotherham Council’s Rotherham ShowPublished Thursday, 30th May 2019
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved with the Rotherham Show this year from volunteering to making and baking.
This year the Show is celebrating its 40th birthday, and in this extra special year the Council is looking for volunteers to work alongside the Rotherham Show team on the weekend of 7 and 8 September.
And for those who grow, bake, make or create can get involved with 'Made In Rotherham'. A wide range of categories in arts and crafts, baking, flowers and vegetables are open to children and adults.
Cllr Sarah Allen, Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Cleaner, Greener Rotherham said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside our team and gain some great experience in how a large event is run – as well as enjoying the satisfaction of contributing to a great community occasion.
“Our volunteers play a vitally important role in ensuring that the thousands of people who visit the show each year have a great time and make wonderful memories.
“It doesn’t matter if you’ve never volunteered before, or never worked at an event, if you are a people person and are happy to be involved in a range of activities then our events team at the Council would love to hear from you,” she added.
Volunteers do not have to work for both days that the Show takes place – people are welcome to put themselves forward to work for just one of the days or even a half day.
Anyone who is interested in finding out more about volunteering can contact Rotherham Council’s events team, and details of how to enter 'Made in Rotherham' are available on the Rotherham Show website.
