Rotherham Council has successfully prosecuted another case of fraudulent use of a disabled persons’ blue badge.

The case was heard in Sheffield Magistrates Court on Tuesday 10th September.

Roy Walsh, 48, of Tudworth Road, Hatfield, Doncaster, used his aunt’s disabled parking badge to park in a disabled parking bay in Drummond Street car park in November 2018 and his aunt was not present.

Walsh pleaded guilty in court and was fined £80 with £100 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

A member of the public had informed one of the Council’s Civil Enforcement Officers that the driver of the vehicle, now known to be Walsh, had parked the vehicle without the badge holder being present. Investigations proved this information to be correct.
