Rawmarsh Tyre Tipper FinedPublished Friday, 11th October 2019
A fly-tipper has received a financial penalty in excess of £600 after admitting to depositing hundreds of tyres in Rawmarsh.
Shaun Bee, formally of McManus Avenue Rawmarsh, pleaded guilty to causing the deposit of 238 tyres at the High Street Centre Allotments in Rawmarsh in June 2016.
Investigations by council officials identified Mr Bee as the offender and officers ordered him to remove the tyres.
However, the tyres were still in place five months after the initial request to remove them had been made and despite numerous letters and telephone calls to Mr Bee.
On 17th November 2016 the tyres were removed by Rotherham Council.
Allotment tenant, Mr Bee, was ordered to pay £500 costs, a penalty charge of £80 and a victim surcharge of £30, a total of £610, by Sheffield Magistrates Court.
Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Waste, Roads and Community Safety, Cllr Emma Hoddinott, said: “Fly tipping is a blight on our communities and the council will do all that it can to ensure that those responsible are held to account for their actions.”
