Suicide Awareness Training in Wickersley North

Frontline staff and volunteers who work in Wickersley North Ward were given the opportunity to attend this vital training, which was funded by Councillors through their Community Leadership Funding.

Suicide Awareness Training

A huge thank you to Shaun from Harmless for delivery a very insightful and vital course to frontline staff and volunteers from in and around Wickersley North ward.

The course, which was hosted by Wickersley Old Village Cricket Club was attended by volunteers from Sunnyside Supplies, Andy's Man Club and Beavers, plus staff from Wickersley Northfield Primary, Bramley Sunnyside Juniors, Bramley Youth Club, Wickersley Cricket Club, South Yorkshire Police and the Council's Housing and Neighbourhoods teams.

Feedback included, "Excellent course, very well delivered." and "Really really good, glad I attended."

The course was funded by Councillors Ellis, Hoddinott and Read via their Community Leadership fund, in order to support projects/initiatives that promote positive mental health and wellbeing, which forms part of their third ward priority. Councillors are already looking at funding more training that will take place in the new year and reach even more local volunteers and frontline workers.

If you would like to know more about suicide awareness and how you can become better equipped to have those challenging conversations, please take a look at the Be The One website, where you can complete a 20-30 minute online training course.

If you need support, or would like to speak to someone about your mental health, there is a new 24/7 service, Qwell for adults aged 18+ who are registered with a GP in Rotherham. More information can be found www.qwell.io or take a lot at their Christmas opening times below.
