People are invited to attend two upcoming public information events in Dinnington, where Rotherham Council will share redevelopment plans for Dinnington town centre.

Rotherham Council secured £11m of Government funding to address blight in the town centre and boost the local economy. Derelict buildings will be cleared and an attractive new town square will be produced as part of the plans. New commercial units will also be built, to broaden the range of shops and businesses located in the town.

Improvements to the outdoor market will create a safer and more attractive environment. Investment at the site will also improve the public realm, with more trees and shrubs, to create a healthier and more sustainable town centre. And redesigned pedestrian routes will bring about safer, more accessible links between the bus station, car parks and the high street.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Chris Read: “This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to come and see our exciting plans and ask plenty of questions. This redevelopment is a real positive for Dinnington and we’re eager to share our vision for a brighter, better high street.”

The events will be held from:

9am until 12pm, Friday 27 October, on Laughton Road (next to the former indoor market)

5:30pm to 7:30pm on Thursday 2 November at Dinnington Resource Centre, 131 Laughton Road.
Invitations have also been sent to local stakeholders to attend a briefing on the plans.

Outline plans will be available on the Council wesbsite from 27 October.
