Introduction
The Early Years and Childcare Service support all early years settings to support children attending their provision who have identified SEND; including health, medical and physical difficulties. Ensuring all children and their families are included within the local early years provision of their choice.
This is facilitated by:
- Delivering full SENCO training to early years practitioners
- Providing support visits to settings to meet the needs of individual children
- Delivery of various training packages around specific subjects relating to SEND
- Coordinating medical and manual handling training for individual children
- Facilitating multi-agency working between early years settings and external agencies
- Offering targeted brokerage service to families of children with SEND seeking childcare
- Working within a multi-agency team to ensure early years settings receive support in a timely manner without duplicating support
- Delivering termly SENCO Network Meetings providing opportunity to keep SENCOs up to date around local and national policy
- Offering support around writing SEND policy and completing documents needed within the setting to support children with SEND
- Supporting practitioners to complete Educational, Health and Care Plan requests
- Providing funding that is available for early years settings to apply for, to enable them to enhance their staff levels to ensure children are fully supported
