Community Infrastructure Levy
The Council has adopted a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) for Rotherham. It is a new way of securing contributions from developers towards infrastructure, such as:
- Extensions to schools
- Transport schemes
- Improvements to open space, and more
These payments are required alongside planning permission. They will largely replace previous payments negotiated as "Section 106" planning obligations.
The CIL rates are set out in a charging schedule, effective from 3 July 2017.
You can find out more about CIL on the Planning Portal website, where you can also download the CIL forms you will need to submit when applying for planning permission.
