Rotherham United support Visit Rotherham initiativePublished Wednesday, 9th March 2016
Rotherham United has become the latest organisation to back "Visit Rotherham."
Last year the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce launched "Visit Rotherham" as the official tourism brand for Rotherham with a new website.
Rotherham United have now kindly donated over 180 ft in pitch board space to Visit Rotherham and put their weight behind the project, with the cost of the production of the boards covered by Chamber subsidiary, Rotherham Enterprise Agency.
The boards, which face the visitors' stand at the New York Stadium were officially unveiled by Rotherham Council Commissioner Julie Kenny, Advisory Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, Cllr Denise Lelliott, Chair of Rotherham Enterprise Agency Richard Staton, Chamber Operations Manager Mark Hannigan, plus Rotherham United’s Fitness Coach Paul Warne and Commercial Director Steve Coakley (pictured).
The clear message is to carry the Visit Rotherham brand and a number of facts and interesting points about the town. Wentworth Woodhouse, the Advanced Manufacturing Park, Guest and Chrimes history and some famous Rotherham characters all appear. The boards will be in place for the remainder of this season and all of next.
Steve Coakley said: "It is important for us a club to support this project. We attract numerous visitors to our town through away followings and we want them not only to visit the AESSEAL New York Stadium, but stay and enjoy the great things Rotherham has to offer visitors."
Mark Hannigan added: "To have the support of Rotherham United for Visit Rotherham is huge and the opportunity to get the brand exposure to the many people who follow their team is something only this unique opportunity can provide."
