You can now arrange your citizenship ceremony in Rotherham. Citizenship ceremonies are currently held at Riverside House.
You can choose between a group or a private citizenship ceremony.
The group ceremony comes at no further cost to yourself though you are not currently able to bring any guests with you to a group ceremony. A group ceremony is held up to a maximum of 4 new citizens.
If you choose a private citizenship ceremony this can accommodate the new citizen and 3 guests from the same household or support bubble. A private ceremony can take place on a weekday by prior appointment and carries a fee of £150.
As part of the ceremony you will either affirm or swear an oath of allegiance to Her Majesty the Queen, be presented with your citizenship certificate and observe the playing of the national anthem of the United Kingdom. You will also receive a commemorative gift to welcome you as a new British Citizen. Currently, no civil dignitary can be present at the ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions being in place, guests in attendance will be legally required to wear a face covering throughout the ceremony, the new citizen is required to wear one prior to and following the ceremony itself, two-metre social distancing measures and sanitising stations are also in place at Clifton Park Museum. As time passes these are subject to change and the Registrar will advise you in writing of the measures in place at the time of booking your ceremony.
