How We Can Support You
As a care leaver in Rotherham, we would really like to get to know you as a person. We want to support you to have strong and positive relationships with the people who matter to you.
Your Personal Advisor will be your main link to the Leaving Care Service and can continue to support you with other relationships as you become an adult.
Your Social Worker will continue to support you until you turn 18 if you remain in care and a Personal Advisor will be allocated at age 16.
We will help you
- develop social networks
- stay connected with family, carers and important people in your life, if that’s something you want to do.
- rebuild relationships if you want to. Your PA can help you do this safely and at your pace
- with travel, mediation, emotional support around family contact. We can also help with financial help, for example phone credit when needed

- if you need language support, we can arrange interpreters or translation services
- help you access independent advocacy if you need support expressing yourself in family meetings, mediation or relationship challenges, via NYAS (0808 808 1001) or Coram Voice (0808 800 5792)
- maintain or reintroduce contact with family or other important people to you
- develop and strengthen friendships, including safe and positive online connections
