We know that some care leavers may have additional needs and we’re here to make sure you get the right support to help you live as independently as possible and achieve your goals.
If you have a learning difficulty, disability or additional needs, you might already have had support through an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or SEND support while you were in school or college. If so, we’ll work with you to make sure that support continues in a way that works for you as you move into adulthood.
What You Can Expect
- Your Personal Advisor (PA) will talk to you about any additional needs you have and make sure your Pathway Plan includes the right support.
- If you had an EHCP, we’ll help you understand what happens next and how to get the right help in college, training, or work.
- We’ll support you to develop your independence skills at your own pace, this might include things like managing money, cooking or using public transport.
- If you need help with your mental health, communication or physical health, we’ll help you access the right services.
- We’ll work with education providers and other professionals to make sure your needs are understood and supported.
