The Virtual School

The Virtual School is a team within Rotherham Council that supports Children in Care and Care Leavers.

What they do

  • check in on your progress and achievements
  • make sure your Personal Education Plan (PEP) is kept up to date
  • give advice to your school/college and your PA so you get the right support
  • run activities and programmes to boost your learning
  • offer drop-in sessions at The Journey
  • support you when you are in primary and secondary school
  • monitor and promote the educational progress and achievement of Children in Care and Care Leavers
  • promote and monitor the use of the Pupil Premium Grant
  • provide advice and guidance for social workers and carers on issues relating to the education of Children in Care
  • support schools and designated teachers to develop effective strategies and support for Children in Care
  • be a source of advice and information to help parents of previously Looked After Children to advocate for them as effectively as possible

How to access

  • Ask your PA to invite the Virtual School to your Personal Education Plan (PEP) meeting.
  • Visit the fortnightly Post-16 drop-in at The Journey for advice.
