The Virtual School
The Virtual School is a team within Rotherham Council that supports Children in Care and Care Leavers.
What they do
- check in on your progress and achievements
- make sure your Personal Education Plan (PEP) is kept up to date
- give advice to your school/college and your PA so you get the right support
- run activities and programmes to boost your learning
- offer drop-in sessions at The Journey
- support you when you are in primary and secondary school
- monitor and promote the educational progress and achievement of Children in Care and Care Leavers
- promote and monitor the use of the Pupil Premium Grant
- provide advice and guidance for social workers and carers on issues relating to the education of Children in Care
- support schools and designated teachers to develop effective strategies and support for Children in Care
- be a source of advice and information to help parents of previously Looked After Children to advocate for them as effectively as possible
How to access
- Ask your PA to invite the Virtual School to your Personal Education Plan (PEP) meeting.
- Visit the fortnightly Post-16 drop-in at The Journey for advice.
