Registering with a Family and Children's Centre

If you are not already registered with a Children's Centre, you will be missing out on lots of activities that will benefit you and your family. Whilst the Service works with families that have children 0-19 there are specific activities for children aged 0-5 years that help their development.

Registering with your local Children's Centre is easy and it means that we can keep you informed about the fun events, activities and services that we offer. If you are not already registered, please contact your local team.

Early Help and Family Engagement Service

Rotherham Family and Children's Centres are part of the 0-19 years Early Help Service, and within the service there are teams that offer support within the community and in centres. These Outreach and Engagement Teams cover three area locations of north, south and central Rotherham.

Early Help Family and Children's Centres

There are six Local Authority Family and Children's Centre in Rotherham and a further three centres operated by our partners. Please do not worry if there isn't a centre in your local area, the teams cover the whole of Rotherham and often work from a variety of local venues near you, as well as outdoors and in the community.

0-5 years Activities and Services

Activities and services that you can expect to find in your community, delivered by Family and Children's Centre workers include:

  • Stay and Play groups
  • Healthy Baby Clinics (in partnership with the 0-19 Health team)
  • Baby Massage sessions
  • Baby Yoga sessions
  • Breast Pump Loan scheme
  • Baby First Aid sessions
  • Introduction to Solid Foods session (in partnership with the 0-19 Health team)
  • Advice, Guidance and Signposting to other Early Years services
  • School holiday activities for all the family
  • Parenting programmes (Evidence Based Hub)
  • Parental conflict programmes for parents living together or apart.

Other Outreach and Engagement Activities and Services

As well our activities for families with children, we also work with young people, providing:

  • One to one support for young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training
  • Targeted children's and youth group sessions
  • Targeted street-based work
  • Holiday activity programmes.
