Introduction to the Right to Object

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, in broad principle, the Right to Object gives individuals the right to object to their data being processed by the Local Authority which falls within the following criteria:

  • processing based on legitimate interests or the performance of a task in the public interest/exercise of official authority (including profiling);
  • direct marketing (including profiling); and
  • processing for purposes of scientific/historical research and statistics.
