Excluded properties
Various exclusions apply to the Right to Buy which may prevent you from buying your property. The rules on exclusion are not straightforward. We can check whether this is the case when you submit your application. You may be excluded from the Right to Buy scheme if:
- The property was let to you as Aged Persons accommodation
- The property was let to you as Disabled Persons accommodation
- The property is due to be demolished or otherwise disposed of
- You have been causing Anti-Social Behaviour and have been taken to court. This will also apply if you are taken to court after submitting your application
- You have rent arrears and have been taken to court. This will also apply if you are taken to court after submitting your application
- The property you are in has not been given to you on a permanent basis. For example, because you have been relocated to allow for major repairs to be carried out to your original property
- The Council does not have freehold title to the property
