Key Achievements

Tackle hotspot areas suffering from fly-tipping and littering

Friends of Rawmarsh and Parkgate Greenspaces have continued to carry out litterpicks either in small socially distance groups or individually, depending on Covid-19 restrictions. They also carried out a litterpick with St. Joseph’s School, following by a Q&A session with the children. For this the children received a Green Blue Peter Badge.

Provision of/Improvement to facilities and activities for Children and Young People

Over 30 young people enjoyed a visit to the National Space Centre, Leicester as a reward for completing the Summer Reading Challenge, the theme was space. The young people had a wonderful day and gave the trip 10 out of 10. "Well organised and communicated. Funding has also been provided to:

  • Pops Outdoor Adventure Centre for craft and activities packs, camera and dongle, and to provide free childcare for Rawmarsh residents suffering from financial hardship due to the
  • pandemic.
  • St. Joseph’s School to purchase of equipment to allow St. Joseph’s School to become a Forest School so that children can be taught in an outdoor environment.
  • Rawmarsh Ashwood Primary School – Children’s Allotment Project
Tackle Social Isolation and Loneliness

Rawmarsh Ward Councillors contributed some of their Devolved Budget to enable Harding Avenue Drop-In Centre to have a new central heating system installed. They also provided funding to update the Fire Safety System. The Centre is now toasty, warm and safe for Social Eyes to use! Social Eyes provides day provision for adults with mild/moderate learning disabilities and Autism.

Explore Opportunities to Improve the Health and Wellbeing of Local Residents

Support has been given to Rawmarsh Salvation Army by providing funding to purchase a freezer and food to enable them to provide a lunch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when restrictions were eased over the summer and to develop a foodbank.

Rawmarsh St. Joseph’s Junior Football Club received funding to make their Clubhouse Covid-19 safe. The funding was used to install hand sanitisers and perspex screens.

Tackle Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour

Working in partnership with the Rawmarsh Ward Housing Hub the CCTV system at the Parade Shopping area been updated and a new CCTV system installed in Rockingham House to prevent crime and to help residents feel safer.

“Know Who to Contact Leaflets” have been produced and delivered to various areas around the Ward. The leaflets give details of how to report issues including crime, anti-social behaviour and litter and give contact details for Councillors.
