Projects supporting the Ward Priorities

Five New Defibrillators Installed

Defibrillators have now been fitted to five Neighbourhood Centres across the Valley Ward, with some positive feedback from the community. We hope that they will never have to be used, but hope they will give peace of mind to residents knowing that they are there to help should the need ever arise.

Community Walkabouts

Socially distanced walkabouts with local Ward Councillors, South Yorkshire Police, Community Protection Unit and  Housing Officers took place when covid restrictions were lifted briefly.

Working with local businesses and service users a number if issues were identified and addressed around the Chaucer Road area.

Neighbourhood Centre Refurbishments

Continuing on from successful projects completed last year, two further Neighbourhood Centres have now been decorated, and have new furniture and blinds. Making the centres a lovely place to meet for all their users.

Valley Ward Councillors were proud to be able to bring a little festive cheer to five Primary Schools across the Valley Ward by providing small gifts for the Children. The gifts were chosen by the Teachers in each School and included books, selection box’s and even an in school cinema afternoon, popcorn included.

Lockdown Activity Packs

Working alongside Young Peoples Services the Ward Councillors provided some fun activity packs for the most vulnerable families within the Valley Ward in the hope of eliminating some of the lockdown boredom that many children have experienced.

Community Chest

Community groups were invited to apply for small grants to help deliver their projects, whilst still adhering to the covid restrictions.

New Bench for Herringthorpe Valley Road

Local Ward Councillors recognised the need for a new bench on Herringthorpe Valley Road, as this is a long and well walked road. The location identified is just opposite Chaucer Road.

As Valley Ward Councillors we put the community at the heart of everything we do. We have listened to residents concerns and learned what is most important to them in their  community. With this in mind we are proud to share with you some of the projects that we have been able to fund and support within the last twelve months.
