What is is?
Speakup is run by and for people with learning disabilities and autism or both.

We speak up and out for ourselves and others and work in co-production all the time.
What happens there?
Take part in projects which will support you to speak up and learn new skills.

People who want to learn independence and active leadership and speak up on behalf of others to make services better are most welcome.

Our current projects include:

‘Peaceful Minds’-supporting people with anxiety through friendship, work experience and checking welfare benefits together with RAP.

‘Prioritise me’ - training people to understand the energy market and stay out of fuel poverty.

Person Centred planning - understanding communication plans

Budgeting For All

Ask Listen Do.- highlighting good services, raising concerns, making a complaint.

Care and Treatment reviews - the Transforming Care Agenda.

Healthy lives, gym and healthy eating sessions.

A community hub together with Key Friday mornings.

Work experience and micro enterprise involvement together with John Lewis and Rotherham Council.

Working with Rotherham, Doncaster,
Sheffield and Barnsley Councils, on plans to make services better and more person centred.

Various training and research work with the universities and the CCGs in the area.

Gas and Electricity and understanding energy and the dangers of carbon monoxide.
Who is there?
We have 20 people who work at Speakup, 11 of whom are people with learning disabilities, autism or both.

We work as an equal team.
We have space for:
• 12 - 16 people to gain independence and living skills and Speakup for people with learning disabilities, autism or both
• 4 - 6 people to gain skills and be part of our healthy eating and cooking group
• 4 - 6 people to gain work experience and skills in our office

We are fully accessible including ramp access.

Changing facilities:
We have a an accessible toilet but not a changing couch
