It is our vision to create high quality, innovative childcare and early education at Little Explorers. We fully embrace Every Child Matters, which lies at the heart of our philosophy: Keeping children safe, healthy, enjoying and achieving and making a positive contribution. Our nursery gives working parents peace of mind that their child is in a safe, happy and stimulating learning environment, while at the same time we offer flexibility and choice to parents seeking an exciting and creative Early Years Education for their child. As a team, we strive to nurture each child''s unique, individual qualities and full potential physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually.
We are open from 7.30am-6pm for 50 weeks a year for children aged 0-4 years. We also offer term-time only options for 2, 3 and 4 year olds and offer free early education places.
Children are accommodated into 4 main rooms - Sunshine Room for 0-2 years, Garden Room 2-3 years, Rainbow Room 3-4+ years and Pre-School.
The staff team is led by a qualified teacher and to achieve high standards, it is our policy to appoint qualified and permanent staff, with recognised childcare qualifications. All our staff have a Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Education and those who prepare food hold a Food Hygiene Certificate and are first aiders. All the staff are cleared as suitable persons through the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB checks). We do have 2 apprentices who are training on the job.
We follow OFSTED''s guidance in relation to staff ratios - 1:3 with 0-2 year olds, 1:5 with 2-3 year olds and 1:8 with 3-4 year olds (unless being taught by a teacher or other Level 6 suitably qualified member of staff).
